Residential and commercial properties in the Carolinas and Virginia sustained between $19 billion and $28.5 billion in damage, including damage resulting from storm surge and inland flooding, according to an estimate Tuesday by real-estate data provider CoreLogic. Of that total, CoreLogic estimates $13 billion to 18.5 billion was uninsured, and insured flood loss covered by the National Flood Insurance Program is estimated at $2 billion to $5 billion. Wind losses are estimated at an additional $1 billion to $1.5 billion.
